Research interests
Dr. Cirino's research focuses on cardiovascular pharmacology and immunopharmacology. He is involved in the design, synthesis and pharmacological characterization of novel gasotransmitter-releasing molecules in vitro and in vivo. He also studies the role of H2S in the pathogenesis and vascular complications of diabetes and other vascular diseases. He is a leading expert in erectile dysfunction and is working to improve our understanding of the role of NO and H2S, and their interactions in this condition.
